Logan Martin

"Colorless"

"...truly enjoyable debut album...huge songwriting talent...upbeat pop songs and distinctive ballads..." -- CCM Magazine

"...sensitive and accessible pop rock songs...Martin's honesty is matched by his passionate delivery..." -- CMCentral.com

It’s easy to see why Kyle Mitchell and Kyle Zeigler, former members of the platinum-selling group Kutless, chose Logan Martin to be the first artist on their new record label, Verbatim.  Logan is most certainly a talented songwriter and vocalist, who started crafting songs at the age of 14 in his hometown of Albany, Oregon, and then performing live shows at age 16.  Early on, Logan’s music grabbed the attention of other musicians, including Sparrow recording artist Shawn McDonald who took Logan on the road.  Logan then began touring and performing with Jeremy Camp, Warren Barfield and Dave Barnes, among others.  And now at the ripe old age of 22, Logan is a recording artist in his own right with his debut CD entitled COLORLESS.

“Kyle and Zig have been amazing to work with,” says Logan. “Their experience in the music industry coupled with their passion for seeing the hope that comes with a life with Christ has made them a great fit with my music. They have poured so much of themselves into this project, and we are all very pleased with the outcome.”

Produced by Mitchell and Zeigler, COLORLESS features an eclectic mix of introspective and thought-provoking songs, born out of the highs and lows of Logan’s life and his personal experiences as a Christian. Drawing from influences such as Damien Rice, Jason Mraz, and John Mayer, combined with his powerful voice, Logan has come into his own both musically and lyrically.

“Here I Am” is an extraordinarily poignant song that came from a very personal place in Logan’s life. “I wrote ‘Here I Am’ six years ago for my mother,” says Logan. “My mom grew up in a house where she constantly lived in fear of her abusive father.  When I was sixteen, I was strumming my guitar at 2:00 a.m. one morning, basically learning how to play, when all of a sudden I was hit with this pain and this fear that overtook my whole body. I started praying and asking God what was happening.   He told me that the pain and fear I was feeling at that moment was the same pain and fear my mother felt every single day of her life. I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, and within 10 minutes I wrote this whole song in a first person perspective of what that must have been like to live through. I know that the song sounds like it would be super depressing, but I sing it with a great hope.  I can look at who my mom is today, and the God that she loves today, and I can truly say there is nothing our God cannot pull you out of --nothing too deep, too dark, or too terrible that He can't come and find you and lift you out of it. That is a hope worth holding onto.”

Logan has embarked on a string of shows that include opening slots for Shawn McDonald, Jeremy Camp and TobyMac, to name a few.  But Logan’s goals for his music remain quite focused and mature for someone so young.  “I want people to see the importance of showing love,” he says. “Not just giving lip service to it. The song ‘Sorry’ is my personal confession of bitterness I was holding in my heart toward someone for years. All the while, I couldn't understand why they wouldn't accept that God exists; why they wouldn't understand how much God loved them. Then God spoke to me and said, ‘Logan, why would they ever what to know a God that causes you to treat them the way you do.?’ It was true. I had shown them nothing but anger and hate for years, and wondered why they couldn't see the love of God. First and foremost, we must show love to those we long to save.

“By loving those around us who have no hope, we can show them the One who is Love. Music is the universal language that everyone speaks. I pray that God allows me to use it as long as I can.”
